Defoe leaves Woking after just 5 short months

Jermaine Defoe and Woking gave a statement yesterday agreeing that he will terminate his contract after just 5 months at the club.

Defoe joined right at the end of last season where he was victorious in 2 of his 6 games in charge. He states that he “felt we were building something special” and it’s hard to disagree as the signings made over the summer really bolstered up the team ready for a promotion battle.

Defoe went on to say that he departed due to “impossible” circumstances. Woking fc have yet to realise any statement about why they agreed to terminate his contract, but it will be interesting to see what they say if they say anything at all.

Woking were looking like being a playoff team this season and this managerial shift just 2 weeks before the season starts might throw a spanner in the works for the club. Hopefully they can bounce back from this surprising move and still have a successful season.
