Harrison Male- The clubless Champion

Harrison Male has been the best goalkeeper in the National for the past 2 seasons, but after Yorks promotion he has found himself club less as preseason begins.

The Beginning-

Male started his career in the Leeds united academy where he climbed the ranks eventually making the u23 team. It was from here where Male was transferred by Leeds. Male had a short spell at Gateshead in the National League North where he appeared for the club 5 times in the 2018-2019 season. Then in 2021 he moved to Worthing FC where he had 46 appearances in 2 years along with 14 clean sheets and an isthmian league champions medal. In 2023 Male signed with Marc Whites Dorking Wanderers where he appeared 45 times and had 10 clean sheets. These seasons at Dorking and Worthing landed him a transfer to York City in 2024 under his old Worthing Manager Adam Hinshelwood.

Seasons-

On the 10th of August 2024 he made his first appearance for York in a 1-1 draw away at Southend. He then got his first clean sheet at home the following week in a 2-0 win over Tamworth. Whilst at York he accumulated 90 appearances, 38 clean sheets and 2 golden gloves. Male was a key part in Yorks 2026 promotion into the EFL and made clutch saves against Rochdale in the game for the title. It’s an undeniable fact that York wouldn’t have made it to the EFL without Male’s safe hands, so it was a shock when he was realised at the start of July. Male says even he was “surprised” by his realise and it’s hard to not see why.​

 

The future-

Male is a top-quality goalkeeper, and it would be brilliant if he could take the step into the EFL, however he would be a brilliant addition to any team in the National league looking for promotion. There is still some time left before the beginning of the season, and it would be surprising if he doesn’t get snatched up by a team within the next few weeks. Where do you think he will end up?
